Bubbly Lava Lamp

http://www.jugglingwithkids.com/2013/05/diy-bubbly-lava-lamps.html
What you will need:
  • Vase or water bottle
  • Food coloring
  • Vegetable oil
  • Water
  • Alka Seltzer
Directions:
  1. Take a cup of water and add your favorite food coloring
  2. Fill your vase/water bottle about 3/4 full of vegetable oil
  3. Add your colored water to the vase/water bottle. Be sure to leave about an inch of space left in your vase/water bottle - otherwise the Alka Seltzer will make the oil overflow
  4. Break your alka seltzer into tiny pieces and drop them in one at a time
This looked like a very cool project to show you guys because it can work for all ages. In my opinion its one of the most coolest decor pieces to put and your room. Its almost like putting a science experiment together. You can even play with it! I think putting it in a vase makes it look more professional but when you put it in a water bottle its more easier to play with and look at. This is something that I would put on a dresser or a desk.
I have done this project before and it was very fun to make. I did it without the alka seltzer so that isn't needed but I would suggest adding it. I think this would be something fun to do when you are babysitting because its a fun way to keep kids entertained and it takes very little to create.
Please tell me if anything goes wrong with this project if you try it. Like I said it is still a fun project without the alka seltzer but it is really cool to watch everything bubble up when you drop them in. Hopefully this will be fun for you to create and keep in your room because I know that my lava lamp lasted a long time!
